Description

Only the place name speak for the possible mythological significance of the Devil's Lake and the Marsh (the first name of this lake and the marsh is Mazais Kangaru ezers (the Small Kangari Lake) of Ropaži (in former times Suntaži parish); there have been no tales recorded about this lake and the marsh. It is possible that the Devil's Lake and the Marsh are somehow related to the wide range of mythological tales about the origin of the Kangari Hills. The Devil's Lake is a small wet marsh, where cranberries grow; there is no open water at the end of the summer. The water mirror of the Devil's Lake is estimated in literature as being smaller than that of a hectare.
